Kodaikanal Won't

With over 800,000 views on Youtube, Indian rapper Sofia Ashraf has brought the plight of former Unilever workers to people all over the globe with her latest video. Set to the beat of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Anaconda’, Sofia explains that Unilever owned a thermometer plant Tamil Nadu (shut down in 2001), and the people who worked there have since experienced health problems due to their exposure to the mercury used. They attribute 45 workers’ deaths to mercury poisoning caused by the plant, and Unilever has neither claimed responsibility nor compensated anyone.
